Community
We have worked at the heart of communities for more than 25 years, and to bring about positive change you have to be a part of the community, play an active role, and collaborate with a variety of local and national organisations to ensure children and young people are supported with the right help, at the right time.
We provide engaging and safe spaces for children and young people to learn valuable life skills, build resilience, self-esteem and confidence. We enable children and young people to access specialist help to overcome entrenched life challenges and trauma, and develop strategies to manage their lives.
We support children and young people in communities across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES, North Somerset and Wiltshire by providing a range of targeted and universal children’s play and youth sessions. Whether that’s 1:1, group work, open access or outreach work our team of dedicated Engagement Workers build trust and strong relationships to support children and young people when they need support to ensure no child or young person goes without help, and that children and young people are able to transition into happy, healthy adults.
Through everything we do, we aim to:
-
Build children and young people’s talents and aspirations
-
Improve children and young people’s confidence and self esteem
-
Help children and young people to learn life skills such as team work, communication and respect for others
-
Develop meaningful relationships with their peers, adults and family
-
Increase children and young people’s resilience
-
Supporting them to develop and grow into happy, healthy young adults.
Session information
Our team of Engagement Workers create safe spaces for children to learn and develop through play, and opportunities for young people to engage, connect and explore with our trusted youth workers.
Across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, we provide a range of open access, detached, outreach, and Adventure Play sessions after school and during the holidays to improve children and young people’s physical and emotional health and wellbeing, and meet their respective needs.
About Adventure Play
Creating camps, dens and other self-made constructions, growing plants and vegetables, making fires and cooking on them, making and meeting friends; in adventure playgrounds children learn for themselves how to deal with challenges and risks and build the resilience needed to cope with life’s challenges.
